Hue - Getting There & Getting Around

Transportation by train, road, air and water routes is very convenient.

Road: Thua Thien-Hue Province is 658km from Hanoi, 1,080km from Ho Chi Minh City, 108km from Danang. The province has the National Highway 14 that links Hue with Central Highlands. It is also on the National Highway 1A that connects Hanoi and Ca Mau.

Train: The Thong Nhat Express trains from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh stop at Hue Railway station. The local trains come to some other provinces.

Air: Phu Bai Airport serves flights: Hue - Ho Chi Minh City and Hue - Hanoi.
Vietnam Airlines run daily flights to Hue form Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The 14km taxi ride from the airport to the centre of Hue takes about 20 minutes and costs $8. For the return journay you can use Vietnam Airlines minibus which departs from their office at 12 Hanoi Street.

There are numerous minibus services operated from Hue to Danang and Hoi An, many of which stop for a short while at Hai Van Pass and Lang Co Beach. You can also hire a car and driver to take you sightseeing or to your next destination. Most hotels and travel agents will be able to arrange minibus or car.Hue is also a stopping point for the Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City express train.Many of the sights around Hue can be reached by boat along the Perfume River.
